How Do Humana Medicare Advantage Plans Work?

A Humana Medicare Advantage plan covers all of the same services and items that are covered by Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B).

In addition to this basic coverage, Humana Medicare Advantage plans also typically cover some benefits not found in Original Medicare. These extra benefits can include coverage of dental and vision care, prescription drugs, hearing aids and much more.

Most Humana Medicare Advantage plans include a SilverSneakers membership at no extra cost.

How Are Humana Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans Different From Medicare Advantage?

A Humana Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) plan can be used to supplement your Original Medicare coverage. Medigap plans help pay for some of the out-of-pocket costs required by Original Medicare such as deductibles, copayments, coinsurance and more. Some Humana Medicare Supplement plans may offer SilverSneakers membership.

It’s important to note that you can’t have a Humana Medicare Supplement plan and a Humana Medicare Advantage plan at the same time. Each type of plan is very different, and you’re not allowed to have both types of coverage.

If you want help deciding between a Medigap plan and a Medicare Advantage plan, it may be helpful to speak with a licensed insurance agent.
