Telehealth is now front and center in health care, particularly with Medicare beneficiaries. Wellcare Medicare plan members may wonder if they have coverage for telehealth care, and the answer is yes.

In this review, we detail how Wellcare Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) plans cover telehealth and how you can find plans in your area that cover telehealth and other extra health benefits that Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B) don’t cover.

How Can You Get Covered Telehealth Care From Wellcare?

There are two main ways to receive telehealth services that are covered by Wellcare.

  • Teladoc providers
Wellcare partners with Teladoc, which provides access to licensed doctors 24/7 who can advise on non-emergency conditions like sinus infections, sore throats and more.

Mental health experts are on hand seven days per week for help with stress, depression, medication management and more. You can even upload a picture of a rash or other skin issue and receive a treatment plan from a dermatologist.

Most telehealth services administered through Teladoc do not require a copayment.

  • Your preferred provider
If your own doctor or other health care provider offers telehealth services, you may utilize those through your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Services that are covered by your Wellcare plan in person may be covered in the same way when administered via telehealth and may require a copayment.

What Telehealth Services Are Covered by Wellcare Medicare Plans?

At a minimum, a Wellcare Medicare plan will cover all telehealth services that are covered by Original Medicare Part B.

Medicare Part B can cover doctor’s office visits, psychotherapy and consultations through telehealth if you’re in an office or medical facility located in a rural area.

In addition to that basic coverage, your Wellcare plan may offer coverage for other telehealth services not included under Original Medicare.

Some of the covered telehealth services a Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan may cover include:

  • Urgent care
  • Home health care
  • Primary care physician services
  • Occupational therapy
  • Mental health services
  • Podiatry
  • Psychiatry
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech-language pathology
  • Substance abuse
  • Diabetes self-management
  • End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) treatment
  • Stroke evaluation and treatment
  • Smoking cessation

The above are just some of the telehealth benefits that may available with a Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan.
